International Conference on 1949 Geneva Conventions held in honour of Professor Levan Alexidze

On 25 October, 2019 International Thematic Conference dedicated to the 70 years’ anniversary of the 1949 Geneva Conventions will take place at Georgian-American University (GAU).
The International Conference is held in honour of Professor Levan Alexidze, late Member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and the Founder of International Law school in Georgia.
Speakers of the conference among others include representatives of Tbilisi State University, Georgian-American University, Free University (Tbilisi), Goethe University (Frankfurt), European University Viadrina (Frankfurt, Oder), International Committee of Red Cross as well as Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
International body of speakers will address the variety of issues relevant to the protection of natural environment and cultural heritage in an armed conflict. The discussions will centre research projects under International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law.
The Conference is organized jointly by the Center for International Criminal Law and International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (TSU) and the Georgian-American University (GAU) with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
